We also have a photo archive and manage publishing rights for the Nobel Prize lectures and other Nobel Prize related texts, as well as video footage from our international events such as the Nobel Week Dialogue.
The documents and materials presented at nobelprize.org are generally protected by copyright and related rights or as trademarks and trade names. For most material, strictly editorial, educational and fair use will be permitted, provided that the credits, copyright notice and source are applied. The material may not be used in any commercial context, marketing or similar. Permission in writing from Nobel Prize Outreach or the Nobel Foundation is required, if not stated elsewhere.

Nobel Prize laureate portraits
Available photos and terms of use can be found here. Strictly editorial, educational and fair use is allowed provided that the credits, copyright notice and source are applied. The material may not be used in any commercial context, marketing or similar.
The Nobel Foundation does not distribute, nor do we extend permissions to use, most portrait photos of the Nobel Prize laureates between 1901 and 2006 due to copyright restrictions. Starting in 2007, most of the official Nobel Prize portraits on nobelprize.org are taken in Stockholm, with full copyright held by the Nobel Foundation.
We refer you to photo agencies such as TT News Agency, Reuters, Associated Press, Getty Images or Agence France Presse to make your enquiry for other photos. Where applicable, the university or institution to which the laureates were affiliated at the time of the award may be of assistance in providing photos. Please find information regarding such affiliations in the biographical information of each Nobel Prize laureate.
Photos or images of the Nobel Prize medal
Written permission to use an image or a photo of a Nobel Prize medal is required. It is only granted if the image is going to be used as an illustration to an editorial text about Alfred Nobel, the Nobel Prize or a Nobel Prize laureate. If permission is granted, “© Nobel Foundation” must be indicated.
An image of the Nobel Prize medal may not be used on the cover of books, booklets or other printed matter, on posters, in exhibitions etc., nor for publicity or commercial purposes.

Footage/filmed material

The Nobel Prize archive includes a digital library of video and audio interviews with Nobel Prize laureates. These interviews provide a unique insight into some of the 20th and early 21st century’s greatest minds as they reflect on their work and lives. Nobel Prize Outreach manage and license publishing and translation rights for the laureate interviews.
